Q: What exactly is NSO? How long does it last? When does it start? A: NSO begins on Saturday, August 25th, 2007. It runs until Tuesday, August 28th, 2007. Classes begin Wednesday, August 29th. The four days of NSO are planned in detail by the NSO Coordinator Team. Click here for more information about what happens during NSO!
Q: My parents/friends/aunt/cousin will be coming in for parents orientation during NSO. Where can they stay? A: There are many hotels in the Georgetown area. Visit the Useful Information portion of our website for a long list of hotels!
Q. Some of my friends also enrolling at Georgetown University have already received their NetIDs. What should I do if I haven’t received mine yet? A. Most students at U.S. mailing addresses should receive NetID password letters 2 to 4 weeks after mailing their deposit. Please wait at least that long to contact University Information Services (UIS). If you do not receive your NetID password letter by June 2nd, UIS can reset your NetID password for you. More detailed information is available here.
Q. I’m missing the New Hoya Register form in the back flap of the New Student Guide. What should I do? A. New students can submit their information for the New Hoya Register online at the Herff Jones website and by entering Georgetown University’s school code 5579.
Q. When do NSO programs for parents conclude? A. On Sunday, August 26th, most parents leave after the Goodbye Lunch, which ends around 2 PM. Later in the summer we will post a schedule with all the programs and activities for parents.
Q. What should I do about housing and roommate assignments? A. Visit the Housing Office website for new students at http://housing.georgetown.edu/academic/new/. Also, the NSO website has a special page on Housing. All new students must fill out the online Living Preference Questionnaire by 5:00 p.m. EDT Monday, June 18, 2007. The Office of Housing Services uses an online program called CHARMS (Campus Housing Roommate Matching System) allows students the opportunity to select their own roommate if they so choose. CHARMS will run from June 19th through mid-July. More information about this process can be found in your New Student Guide on pages 28-31.
Q. When will I find out about housing assignments? A. New students will be notified about their housing assignments, as well as roommate assignments if they did not use CHARMS, during the first week of August. |
